Hypocritical Ass Alert

Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner, a few days after vetoing a bill that would have mandated the teaching of cursive writing, due to ostensible concerns about the cost to local school districts, chose to sign H.B. 40, the dreadful Democratic bill forcing Killinoisans to fund abortion.  This is yet another example of the confusion and hypocrisy of modern American politics.  Why didn't we elect Pat Quinn for another term, if what we wanted was sanctuary state status, and a whole new entitlement (albeit one involving death).  And the whole crazy contradiction of being worried about the cost of teaching cursive writing, and then not caring about spending millions on abortion when Killinois already can't pay its bills.

Unibrow Party Fun in Killinois

The main disincentive to voting in the present circumstances is the inane similarity between the two parties.  When the Republican Speaker of the House says he is on the side of Communist Antifa, and the Republican Governor of Illinois signs a bill making the entire State of Killinois a sanctuary for illegal aliens, remind me again how these clowns are better than the Democrats?  The latter, Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner, is the exemplar of the Unibrow Party (h/t Shannon Joy).  Despite a history of having chums like Disturbin' Dick Durbin and Rahm "The Borg" Emmanuel, Mr. Rauner managed to wrest the nomination for governor from people with actual, conservative records.
Just like the adorable little alien tykes in Village of the Damned, Rauner insinuated himself into a party that wasn't his own.  And now, when he did the same kind of crap the people of Killinois bounced Pat Quinn for doing, we're all surprised and stuff.  Note to Republican voters:  try nominating people who have been Republicans for longer than five minutes!   Or maybe it's expecting too much, wanting competent politicians who actually believe in something other than their own ego?  But enough about Donald Trump.

The Mao Zedong Hour

Estase wrote a letter to Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner about House Bill 40.  One of the more execrable pieces of legislation created by Illinois Democrats, it would publicly fund abortions at a time when the state is already billions of Dollars behind in payments to employees and organizations.  I got a form letter back, thanking me for writing about "abortion access."  With a Republican like Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner, who needs any Democrats?
Estase is old enough to recall Judy Baar Topinka bragging about how she was pro-abortion and fiscally conservative, which to her meant she was "moderate."  As milquetoast and unassuming as former Governor Jim Edgar was, he looks like a titan of a man compared to most Killinois Republicans.   I have personally never understood why the Illinois GOP has such a poor track record of picking actual conservatives to run for office.  Only the apparatchiks of said party would pick a homosexual Navy vet who exaggerated his service record repeatedly to run for the Senate--and, who, when interviewed by WTAD of Quincy, would opine that confirming judicial nominees was "a waste of time!"  Mind-boggling.  This is the caliber of man who the Illinois GOP puts forward.  I guess we were trying to make Minnesota feel better about their Senators (which include the never-funny either politically or professionally Al Franken).  The absolute leftist insanity of Illinois Democrats is the only impetus to give any of these pseudoconservatives one's vote.
Makes one almost consider watching the Mao Zedong Hour. . . .

The Court Party

Two internet stories present themselves regarding the 60th anniversary of the Selma march.  The first is that the NYT edits George W. Bush out of the photograph of present-day commemorators.  The second is that Mediaite calls out John Boehner and Mitch McConnell for not attending.  Now the obvious conclusion is that if the New York Times edits out Republicans attending Selma, there is no point in Crying John and The Turtle attending anyway.
The penetrating commentary will be that it is pointless for Boehner and McConnell to pretend to care about liberty while they allow Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to run roughshod over them.  Loretta Lynch, even worse than Eric Holder, is almost certain to be confirmed as AG.  When exactly is the esteemed John Boehner to act as though budget decisions are actually in his hands (as they are)?
In Illinois, our only Republican Senator, Mark Kirk, is more concerned with gay marriage than with keeping the leftist extremists out of the Federal judiciary.  My congressman, Aaron Schock, says that Apple Computer informed him how important amnesty is.  Then he sends out fundraising letters where he pretends that he opposes amnesty.  And all the while, Congressman Schock has spent millions decorating his offices to look like "Downton Abbey!"  No better analogy for these Republicans exists than the Court Party Whigs, like Robert Walpole, so comfortable with their ministerial privilege that they forgot what Whigs typically believed.

The Spanish Civil War and the Illinois Governor's Race

Sweet child in time/You'll see the light/Lines drawn between/Good and bad
The Spanish Civil War was a battle between two evil ideologies--Soviet Communism as represented by the Republicans, and Fascism, as represented by the Nationalists under Franco.  The Republicans were nun-raping, priest-murdering savages.  The Nationalists were Jew-murdering thugs.  Neither side were worth a damn, and if Estase had been alive, he would have hoped each side would kill off the other.  It reminds me of what Reagan said of the Iran-Iraq war:  "It's a real shame both sides can't lose this war."

Fast forward to 2012.  Real conservatives Bill Brady and Kurt Dillard are trounched by upstart Rahm Emmanuel confidant and Disturbin' Dick Durbin supporter Bruce Rauner.  (See my previous post, "Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner.")  Not only is Rauner pro-abortion, he promises to remake the Illinois GOP in his own image.  The Illinois GOP was always heavy in Primrose Leaguers, but Rauner intends to make values voters unwelcome in Illinois Republican politics.  So, while voting for Pat Quinn means voting for more financial ruin for the state, voting for Bruce Rauner means pro-lifers will have no place in state GOP politics.  So, in other words, it is the Spanish Civil War all over again.  It is one set of evil men against another set of evil men.  Enjoy, Illinoisans.

You better close your eyes, bow your head/Wait for the ricochet

Sci-Fi Bruce Rauner

The person who won the primary for Illinois Republican candidate for governor is making me think science fiction.  No, Bruce Rauner isn't 85% android, he can't see through brick walls, and he doesn't have a jet pack.  He just reminds Estase of movies like "Return of the Body Snatchers" and "Village of the Damned."  You see, Mr. Rauner is a recent convert to Republicanism, having spent years supporting candidates like Disturbin' Dick Durbin and being personal friends with Rahm "The Borg" Emmanuel.  Estase admits that before finding out the previous facts, the fact that ChampionNews.net endorsed Bruce Rauner, even he was tempted to think the blond boy with glowing eyes was fathered by humans.  All I need to hear is that he can read my mind for me to think I really am in the 60s sci-fi classic.
Is it really a problem that a self-described "social liberal" beat out real conservatives Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady?  One is tempted to think that Illinois Democrats are so politically invincible that the only way to beat Pat Quinn is with one of the children of the damned.  But we will know we are in trouble if Rauner is elected and, as in the classic Twilight Zone episode, we find out "I want to serve Illinois" means he intends to serve us for dinner.

Chicago Sewers

The People's Republic of Illinois is the home of the corrupt Hyde Park socialists Obama, Axelrod, and Jarrett.  The Machine controls the bulk of the state house.  This is the reason Estase has always said that the cloaca maxima of Shiitown empties into Springfield.  The junior senator, Mark Kirk, who is on record saying that confirming Federal judges is "a waste of time," now is wasting his power on passing the Amnesty Bill.  This is to make up for his record of rock-ribbed conservative votes, like when he voted for gay marriage.  What use are Illinois Republicans, assuming there actually are any?

Kicking and Screaming, Part Two

Nicholas Hahn claims that being a good executive won Romney the Catholic vote.  Mr. Hahn also says Santorum caught "Potomac fever," whatever that is.  Well, Mr. Hahn, if being a Catholic means loving good executives, they must be mightily displeased with the ecclesiastical politicians calling themselves bishops.  The bishops put their weight behind Obamacare only to have the Contraceptive Mandate shoved down their throats.  If Santorum has Potomac fever, what disease do the other presidential candidates have?  After all, if wanting public office is wrong, then Mitt the Shit and Newt Gingerich have the same defect.  Estase has already given up on 2012.  He voted for Santorum, and the rest of the Illinois GOP chose someone who forced Catholic hospitals to hand out Plan B.  Mitt then lied about it, claiming that this provision of Romneycare was voluntary when it wasn't.  Like Lisa Graas, I see absolutely no difference between Obama and Romney when it comes to freedom for the Catholic Church, and if the Catholic vote went with Romney, that shows how stupid Catholics are. Petasus tip to Kresta in the Morning.

My thought is that if the water is too poisoned between Romney and Santorum for the latter to be his VP, Romney might gain some creditablity as a pro-lifer (where he has none now) by making Michele Bachmann his VP.  I might actually give a damn about whether or not Romney wins in that case.

Update: Justice Stephen Bryer sees nothing wrong with the government forcing people to buy burial insurance.  The 1930s threw most of the freedom to make contracts out the window--vide Wickard v. Filburn, the Social Security Act.  The 30s also were the decade that killed Common Law, and replaced it with an infinitely flexible constitution.

Hurwitz Nomination to Ninth Circuit

One of the intellectual parents of Roe v. Wade, Andrew Hurwitz, is reportedly being nominated for the Ninth Circuit Court.  ATTENTION MARK KIRK!  I know you think that approving judicial nominees is "a waste of time," but it is also YOUR JOB!  I don't know why the milquetoast RINOs who run the Illinois Republican Party foisted you on us, but you might redeem yourself by keeping this pro-abort extremist from legislating from the bench.  Unless you think it's a waste of time.

Occupy Your Church

Tip of the petasus to LifeSiteNews.  Occupy Providence attacks a pro-life rally in the Rhode Island capital, throwing condoms onto Catholic school girls, shouting down speakers, and refusing to let a priest close the event with a prayer.  OWS is not just about rich people anymore.  Go to Salon.com, those slimeballs have seen fit to devote a whole section of their website to these Stalinists.  They want abortion as much as redistribution of wealth.  I remember reading an article by a priest defending OWS as having legitimate grievances.  I hope the Catholic clergy wakes up on OWS.  It reminds me of a Industrial Workers of the World poster which showed a rich person with the caption "They Eat for You," and then showed a Catholic priest with the caption "They Fool You."  The Wobblies also had a song deriding religion called "Long Haired Preacher Man."

Richard Cohen of the Washington Post says the GOP is brain dead, giving as evidence. . . .well, don't worry about why.  But the fact that Republican candidates are different in outlook than Teeth-Clicker means they're yahoos.  I wonder what he thinks of the people who elected Bachmann Congresswoman?  Or the people who elected Santorum Senator?  Bumpkins, dolts, morons all.  The really enlightened people are we Illinoisians, who not only elected Teeth-Clicker to the Congress and Senate, but have proven our mettle with a wide variety of distinguished statesmen.  Jim Thompson, the son of the fabulously corrupt Chicago Mayor Big Bill Thompson.  Paul Simon, who knew about as much about government as the singer of the same name.  George Ryan, he of the bribed DMV workers.  Dick Durbin, the Special Olympian of the Senate.  And last, but not least, Rod Blagogevich, the seller of Teeth-Clicker's Senate seat.  Yes, compared to Illinois, the people of Pennsylvania and Minnesota are indeed bumpkins, dolts and morons.  Thanks for pointing out their anti-intellectualism Mr. Cohen!

Daniel Hannan to the Illinois Republican Party

OK, so he wasn't specifically talking to the corrupt oligarchy that gave us Mark Kirk, but he could have been.  In his excellent new The New Road to Serfdom, he remarks on page 33

"How extraordinary, I thought, to have a system where politicians see their role as being to represent their constituencies in their parties rather than the other way around;  where policy is made bottom-up rather than top-down.  My own electoral division, South East England, is, like Georgia, a pretty right-wing place--certainly in the sense of being fiscally conservative.  But, whereas both parties in Georgia try to reflect the temper of the local populace, Labour candidates in South East England are, if anything, further to the left than in the rest of the country, reflecting as they do the prejudices of tiny selection committees."

Of course, since Illinois' Republicans have been unable to elect the members of the state's Republican central committee since 1979, the direction of the party is by the same sort of clique that Hannan complains of being the bane of the British party system.   When Illinois Republicans are goaded into making a lying pro-abort their Senate candidate, can we really say they have an open primary?  Time can only tell, but it is entirely possible that Alexi Ginnoulias' positions on abortion would have been identical to those of Mark Kirk.  Kirk is Illinois' answer to Aqua Buddha Rand Paul.  Is it a good thing that I can say that about my Senator?
