Catholic Herald UK had a hit-piece on Rick Santorum today where the author says that Santorum cannot win the election against Obama because he is too free-market, and is "deranged" {his word} about the National Health Service in Britain. Mr. Oddie seems to think that socialized medicine that kills people by delaying surgery is right in line with orthodox Catholicism, just as how most American bishops think destroying the American economy by flooding it with illegal aliens is right in line with orthodox Catholicism. The odd William Oddie seems to think a pro-abortion liberal like Romney or Obama, so long as they pay for your substandard healthcare, is preferable to a pro-life conservative who would have you make your own healthcare decisions.
On a different subject, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) makes me sick. As an unabashed speciesist, I believe the suffering of people, created in God's image, trumps the suffering of animals every time. ASPCA has chosen to fill the figurative airwaves with ads featuring outspoken pro-abort Sarah McLachlan. The ads feature mistreated animals with Ms. McLachlan singing in the background. Ms. McLachlan then informs us that we should send money to the ASPCA to fight animal abuse. The fact that I am supposed to listen to someone who approves of abortion on demand as an authority on humanity and compassion really pisses me off. The fact that the same TV networks that would never allow pictures of fetuses, living or dead, show abused animals for sympathy also pisses me off. If you have extra money, send it to a real charity like Edmundite Missions, which provides food for poor African-Americans in Selma, Alabama. Don't waste your money on a fake charity endorsed by Hollywood pro-aborts.
